Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – The National Health Insurance (SeNaSa) announced the gradual reactivation of its home delivery service for medications, as part of a broader effort to implement new security measures aimed at improving transparency and control in pharmaceutical dispensing.
According to SeNaSa Director Dr. Santiago Hazim, the resumption will proceed progressively, depending on each pharmacy’s completion of verification and validation requirements within the newly launched digital platform.
“These new protocols are designed to strengthen transparency, authenticity, and oversight at every stage of the service, ultimately ensuring better protection and efficiency for our members,” said Dr. Hazim.
In addition to the delivery service, SeNaSa affiliates may continue to collect medications at regular dispensing centers by following established procedures. These include presenting the original, unaltered prescription, a valid ID card, and their SeNaSa membership card.
Since the rollout of the updated technology system in April, SeNaSa has served over 600,000 affiliates, averaging 6,185 daily interactions at participating pharmacies through early July. This volume reflects the institution’s commitment to timely, dignified, and efficient healthcare access centered on patient well-being.
During this period, approximately 37,884 authorized medications were dispensed under the Health Services Plan (PDSS), including treatments for high blood pressure, heart conditions, cholesterol, infections, and other critical health issues.
SeNaSa confirmed that it will continue to provide updates through official communication channels as more pharmacies complete system integration. The institution also encourages affiliates to share feedback and report concerns, helping to further improve service quality.
Expressing gratitude for members’ patience and trust throughout the transition, SeNaSa reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the national healthcare system and delivering high-quality services to its users.
