Survey on Inclusion and Financial Education Conducted by the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic

By Patty de la Cruz

Punta Cana. The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) is conducting the National Survey of Inclusion and Financial Education (ENIEF) 2023. The survey is taking place from September 15 to October 8. Duly identified surveyors are collecting the data. The information obtained is considered absolutely confidential.

One of the main objectives of this information collection is to identify the barriers that prevent equitable access to financial services in the Dominican Republic. It also aims to capture a clear and current image of how Dominicans interact with financial products and services.

The results of this national survey will help in designing exclusive policies. These policies will allow more people to benefit from safe financial opportunities that are adapted to their realities.

The ENIEF 2023 survey has the motto YOUR VOICE COUNTS. It provides selected citizens the opportunity to represent many Dominican households with similar characteristics and conditions.

All information provided by respondents will be used with strict confidentiality and only for statistical purposes. This is in accordance with Monetary and Financial Law No. 183-02.

The Central Bank reports that the interviewers will be properly uniformed and identified with an official credential from the institution. Upon arriving at selected homes, the interviewers will deliver a letter of introduction. This letter will include their name and ID number. Contacts will also be provided for verification with the institution. In some cases, a duly identified supervisor will also be present.

The BCRD calls for and appreciates the valuable collaboration of Dominicans. They are committed to providing accurate and timely information about the financial sphere in their homes. This information will serve to improve the quality of life of the Dominican people.
