This accomplishment demonstrates the resilience and capacity of the electricity sector, credited to energy programming, timely private sector investments in generation, and other growth and modernization strategies spearheaded by Luis Abinader’s government.

The OC’s report also emphasizes the vital part played by renewable energy drawn from solar, wind, and biomass plants. These not only fulfill the increasing demand but also play a key role in combating climate change. Roughly 16% of the energy utilized in the country is derived from clean sources.

It’s worth noting that the sector’s energy creation and distribution capacity has a direct, positive impact on the citizens’ quality of life by enabling access to basic services.

The mission of the Ministry of Energy and Mines is to develop and manage policies for the responsible and sustainable progression of the national energy and mining industry, both metallic and non-metallic.
