The Economic and Legal Value of Real Estate Tourism: A Multi-Sector Investment Impacting the Country
Panel Impacto en el Turismo inmobiliario en la economía Nacional

The Dominican Association of Real Estate Tourism Companies (ADETI) held the first edition of its forum “Economic and Legal Impact of Real Estate Tourism”, where important representatives from the business, government, financial, real estate and media sectors gathered to learn about the main economic indicators of the sector and the legal guarantees that the country provides for the attraction of new real estate tourism investments.

Through the various presentations and panels developed at said event, the importance of this sub-sector of tourism was highlighted, which directly impacts other various sectors, contributing value to the national and local economy, as well as attracting new investments thanks to the legal security that the country has.

The president of ADETI, Jorge Subero Medina, highlighted the good moment that the Dominican Republic is experiencing in terms of real estate tourism and the way in which it relates to each of the different economic sectors as a transversal axis, supported by a climate of trust and legal security that has allowed us to promote the development of new real estate tourism projects in different destinations.

“Real Estate Tourism is currently the most complete manifestation of the diversification of tourism, which translates into growth and contribution to the national economy. However, we must continue to promote the sector and explore new financing structures, such as investment funds, and achieve a more environmentally sustainable tourism alternative,” said Subero Medina.

The Forum featured the keynote presentations “A commitment to new investments within tourism” by Brenda Morales, technical director of CONFOTUR; “Legal security in real estate tourism” by Jorge Subero Isa, former president of the Supreme Court of Justice; and the presentation of the study “Impact of real estate tourism on the national economy” carried out by Roberto Despradel, partner of the firm DASA.

Likewise, a first panel was held at the event called “Beyond sun and beach” where the following participated: Ellis Pérez, former Secretary of State for Tourism; Juan Bancalari, president of the Association of Sports Marinas and Nautical Clubs; and David Llibre, president of Asonahores. And later a second panel called “Financing and Sustainability in Real Estate Tourism” where the following participated: Dania Heredia, President of ECORED; Olga Nivar, director of public offering of the Superintendency of the Stock Market; and Francina Marte, general director of PARVAL and President of the Association of Stock Market Posts.

This first edition of the forum was held at the JW Marriott Hotel. It had the support of various sponsors such as Grupo Puntacana, Cap Cana, Playa Grande Golf & Ocean Club, Banco Popular, Puntarena, Banco López de Haro, Green One Playa Dorada, Banreservas, Playa Nueva Romana, Inversiones La Querencia (Tropicalia Project) and Kaynoa.
