Santo Domingo, DR. – Starting this Tuesday the 26th throughout the national territory, the Consciousness for Life Operation Holy Week 2024 begins, with which public institutions seek to avoid misfortunes among citizens who congregate en masse on beaches, spas and other tourist places.
The Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos, spoke about the program and its measures this Monday, reporting that during the 2024 Easter holiday, massive public or private parties will be restricted in beach areas and other tourist places.
Santos spoke at the end of the Security Council meeting at the National Police Palace indicating that the measures seek to give greater security to the population during these days.
“We seek to collaborate with maintaining public order, community well-being and avoiding any impact with tourism, “an important variant for our country,” said the Minister of the Presidency.
A few days ago the Ministry of Public Administration ordered that public institutions only work until noon on Wednesday the 27th.
The COE Easter operation
The Emergency Operations Center (COE) is ready to begin its Operation Consciousness for Life, Holy Week 2024 will begin this Thursday, March 28 at 2:00 pm from 2:00 pm next Thursday to prevent and respond in the event of any emergency that citizens may have when traveling to different parts of the country during the holiday of the main week
The agency will establish a prevention and road safety device on the road sections of the main roads, highways, beaches and permitted spas to prevent traffic accidents, asphyxiation by immersion, alcohol poisoning and food poisoning.
To do this, the organization will deploy 49,723 people, who represent the institutions that comprise it. Likewise, the installation of three mobile hospitals, 51 crane positions, 25 mobile workshops, 3,323 aid stations, three helicopters, and nine regional command centers has been arranged.
In addition to 603 ambulances, 47 Omsa buses, 23 boats, 303 immediate response units and 20 road protection and assistance devices.
The entity recommended that citizens, when driving, verify the correct operation of the vehicles' lights, especially the brakes and turn signals, not to carry excess load, mainly on the outside of the vehicle; respect speed limits and do not drink alcoholic beverages; check the conditions of the tires; Pay attention to vulnerable users on your journey and use the child restraint system.
Spas closed in different Dominican municipalities
The Civil Defense reported the closure of around 248 spas in different parts of the country to prevent “accidents” during the Easter 2024 holiday.
He reported that for these festivities, 428 roadside aid stations will be set up, in which 5,136 volunteers will work.
The Red Cross has its Easter 2024 operation
The Dominican Red Cross presented the “Red Cross Accompany Your Steps” campaign, through which it will participate with 156 branches, 10,145 volunteers and 799 aid stations, spread throughout the country, in the preventive operation of Holy Week 2024, which coordinates the Emergency Operations Center (COE).
Under the motto “Red Cross Accompany Your Steps”, the humanitarian organization will deploy thousands of volunteers throughout the national territory, trained to carry out preventive work and, in cases where necessary, first aid and rescue.
National Police will increase preventive patrols
The National Police reported that it will increase preventive patrolling and intelligence work throughout the national territory, mainly on beaches, rivers, spas and residential and commercial areas, as part of the “Operation Consciousness for Life Holy Week 2024” that the Center will lead. of Emergency Operations (COE).
The Mayor's Office of Verón adds a particular prevention plan
Some 1,400 men and women will work on the “Holy Week 2024 Operational Plan”, as announced through the Operational Plan of the Risk and Disaster Management Department of the Verón Punta Cana city council.
This operation is coordinated with the municipal Emergency Operations Center, in compliance with the provisions of Law 147-02 on risk management and the protocol for risk management and emergency administration of the territory.
The Operational Plan also contemplates the fundamental variables that will be acted upon: asphyxiation by immersion, traffic accidents, food poisoning and alcohol poisoning.
