The Seventh Edition of the Restaurant Week Gastronomic Festival is Coming to Santo Domingo This November

Santo Domingo, DR. – After being previously enjoyed in Santiago de los Caballeros in September, and Punta Cana in October, the Santo Domingo Restaurant Week 2024 gastronomic festival is now set to take place.

The Dominican Republic Hotel and Tourism Association and Dominican Restaurant Association have announced the seventh installment of this festival, Restaurant Week Santo Domingo 2024. This occasion is programmed to boost the city’s culinary offerings, thereby highlighting the country as a top gastronomic spot in the region.

The President of the Dominican Restaurant Association, Omar Cepeda Darauche, when discussing festival events mentioned that it’s an opportunity for the culinary sector and diners, where restaurants offer a diverse gastronomic selection. This is aimed at showcasing the breadth of flavors and cuisines available, ideal for food enthusiasts, promoting Dominican cuisine at an elevated level for a week.

This year, the festival expanded to the Eastern and Northern regions of the country with the intent of creating a nationally recognized gastronomic route. Moreover, this event will enable diners to vote for their favorite restaurant, entitling the winner to be awarded as the best restaurant.

The seventh iteration of SDQ Gastronomic 2024 is supported by official sponsor, American Express, and the Ministry of Tourism. Further supporters include El Catador, Cervecería Nacional Dominicana, and Cerveza Corona, among others.

Restaurant Week is a well-loved event that offers diners a chance to sample the best gastronomic creations from top restaurants at an affordable price. Participation in Restaurant Week also offers increased visibility for the participating eateries.

Background of Restaurant Week

Restaurant Week was conceived in New York as a means to stimulate business during traditionally slow business periods. Created by Tim Zagat and Joe Baum over three decades ago, Restaurant Week was designed to shine a light on the diverse culinary landscape of the city and offer diners the chance to try new restaurants at discounted rates, whether at their local casual restaurant or a top-tier dining establishment.

How it Functions?

During Restaurant Week, participating establishments create their own unique prix-fixe menus, offering multi-course meals varying in price from $30 to $60. These exclusive menus permit diners to explore new restaurants, thereby providing a fantastic opportunity for restaurants to impress these first-time patrons and transform them into regular customers.
