The Top Challenges Travelers May Face at Punta Cana Resorts

A new report sheds light on some of the issues travelers are most likely to run into on their next all-inclusive getaway to Punta Cana.

The Dominican Republic is home to a whopping 882 hotels and resorts, and Punta Cana boasts the largest number of high-end establishments.

And while most resorts offer exceptional service and luxurious amenities, several resorts in the coastal destination still have work to do to achieve world-class status.

In this article, we will share the latest information on what aspects of Punta Cana resorts can be improved and some safe ways to book a great resort.

Punta Cana has earned a unique status among tourist destinations in the Dominican Republic thanks to its variety of top-rated properties.

But a closer look reveals that only two of its luxury resorts are classified as 5 Diamond properties, an industry-leading accolade from AAA.

According to a new media report, which compiled information on the state of luxury accommodations in the Dominican Republic, some aspects of luxury resorts in the sun-drenched tropical destination leave a lot to be desired.

The analysis, which is based on reviews compiled by an official site inspector based in the Dominican Republic, reveals that resorts in the tropical country underperform when it comes to cleaning and maintenance compared to properties in other countries.

Those issues become even more important in tropical destinations like Punta Cana, where humidity, precipitation, and extreme weather events can lead to wear.

Left unchecked, problems like mold, corrosion, and discoloration can become a costly conundrum for local properties.

According to the anonymous inspector, AAA pays close attention to issues that can affect the guest experience, especially since issues like mold or poor air can have a detrimental effect on health.

The report highlights that: “We assess everything from excessive rust, corrosion, and mold in public areas and in guest rooms,” adding that “if these issues become recurring, it could translate into a lower property rating,” noted the anonymous reviewer.
