Tourism Cabinet Implements Preventative Measures at Dominican Airports Amid Storm Franklin: Embracing Safety

Santo Domingo, DR. – The Tourism Cabinet reported on the preventive measures that are being taken at Dominican airports in light of the imminent passage of Storm Franklin through Dominican territory.

Following the recommendations of the technicians of the National Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) it was established that the Las Américas International Airport, La Isabela International Airport and La Romana International Airport will be closing operations starting at 10 p.m. this Tuesday, until 6:00 a.m. this Wednesday.

While the Cibao International Airport, Gregorio Luperón International Airport and El Catey International Airport will be closing their operations two hours later, from 12 at night until 8:00 in the morning this Wednesday.

Until now, it is expected that the Punta Cana International Airport will be able to maintain its operations on a regular basis. While the María Montez International Airport was not included in the provision since during its regular operating hours said terminal closes at 5:30 in the afternoon until 8:30 in the morning, which are the expected hours of impact of the storm.

The cabinet reported that they are working in permanent session and that the reopening times of the different airports will be kept under observation to advance or delay them, given the erratic movement of storm Franklin.
