Understanding the Submarine Cable Connecting the Electrical Systems of Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico

Santo Domingo – Caribbean Transmission advances the Hostos Project with the support of President Luis Abinader.

The Hostos Project is aimed at installing a submarine cable to connect the electrical systems of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

This allows more efficient use of renewable energies, disaster response, and stability of the electrical systems of both countries.

President Luis Abinader’s vision for 2027 foresees an energy surplus, guaranteeing the nation’s energy security. This will provide for the export of electricity to Puerto Rico.

Abinader set a goal to achieve 30% renewable generation by 2030. This aligns with the efficiency, stability and sustainabilitypromoted by the Hostos Project.

He made these remarks at the Latin American and Caribbean Infrastructure Investment Conference on September 4.

Caribbean Broadcasting” commits to ensuring a more reliable, greener, and efficient energy future with this project,” reads a document.
