Santo Domingo.-The secretary general of the World Tourism Organization, (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili today congratulated President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, for the Dominican Republic's achievement in reaching the goal of 10 million visitors, which he described as a milestone for Dominican tourism.
In his X account (previous ), the UNWTO secretary highlights the leadership of the Dominican Republic in world tourism.
«Congratulations to the Dominican Republic for receiving 10,000,000 visitors in 2023. We want to highlight the leadership of the President HE @LuisAbinader and the Minister of Tourism HE @DavidColladoM in this achievement. A milestone for Dominican tourism and all Dominicans! », Pololikashvili wrote on his social networks.
In various scenarios, in different parts of the world, the Secretary General of the UNWTO has recognized the leadership of the Dominican Republic in tourism, during the administration of Minister Collado.
It is recalled that the Secretary General of the UNWTO declared the Dominican Republic as the first country in the world to achieve the total recovery of tourism, during an event in the historic Colonial City of Santo Domingo, the Dominican capital.
During the 118th meeting of the UNWTO executive committee, which took place in May of this year in the country, Pololikashvili highlighted the leadership that the Dominican Republic has earned due to its success story in tourism.
“We congratulate Minister David Collado and his team for the great work they have done and the success of this executive council meeting,” said the UNWTO Secretary General on that occasion.
