US Embassy in the Dominican Republic contributes command tents to the Emergency Operations Center through donation

Santo Domingo. On Friday, the US Embassy in Santo Domingo made a generous donation to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The donation includes four command tents equipped with a minimum of 135 mobile stretchers, blankets, and sheets.

Patricia Aguilera, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in the Dominican Republic, emphasized the strong ties of friendship and cooperation between the United States and the Dominican Republic. She also highlighted the US Government’s contributions of over 17 million dollars in the last two decades, including five mobile field hospitals, four Mobile Emergency Coordination Centers, defibrillators, and the recent donation of four emergency response coordination tents.

Juan Manuel Méndez García, director of the COE, expressed gratitude to the Dominican government for the minimum $35,000 donation. He recognized the significant improvement these resources would bring to emergency response efforts.

After the donation ceremony, the Chargé d’Affaires and other U.S. Embassy officials visited the COE’s emergency response facilities and received a distinguished visitor medal as a token of appreciation.
