Punta Cana, RD.- The Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) this week presents a considerable increase in the arrival of international flights, marking the beginning of the 2023/24 winter season. Specifically, the PUJ will receive some 460 international connections this week, 58 flights more than last week when it had 402 arrivals.
According to weekly reports issued by the Eastern Airport Corporation, the flights had been showing timid increases, but this week from October 30 to November 5 is when the increase presents a big jump with a schedule of 460 arrivals.
The connections that are growing the most are those from Canada with an avalanche of flights that increase week by week and with Toronto (YYZ) leading with 51 flights, followed by Montreal (YUL) with 30 and from Quebec (YQB) 7 connections arrive. In addition, starting this week they have been offering direct flights to cities such as Halifax, Vancouver; Edmonton, Ottawa, Calgary and Hamilton.
South America also presents an increase in its connections, with Panama City (PTY) leading the way with 45 flights, Bogotá (BOG) with 20 and 11 connections from Medellín (MDE). Lima (LIM) also increased its direct flights with Punta Cana to 19; Caracas (CCS) and Buenos Aires (EZE) maintain 2, and San Pablo (GRU), Guayaquil (GYE) and Quito (UIO) maintain 1 connection.
