Bogotá.- wingo is preparing for the high holiday season at the end of the year, which begins next Friday, December 1st and will extend until January 10, 2024. The airline plans to transport more than 400 thousand travelers on its route network, which will represent a growth of 40%, compared to what was operated in the high season of 2022. The airline will make more than 440 thousand low-cost seats available to travelers on 2,360 flights.
These figures represent a 29% growth in capacity in its operation, mainly based on the growth of flights in the Colombian domestic market, where Wingo is already consolidating itself as the third player in the national industry.
The company estimates a load factor higher than the 90% average across its entire route network for these weeks of high demand. “At Wingo we are preparing for our high holiday season at the end of the year with the highest operating volume in our history. We estimate a growth of 40% in the flow of travelers during these weeks with more than 2,360 flights operated. We will remain committed to offering low-cost chairs in the Colombian market, with an increasingly relevant and representative operating year,” said Jorge Jiménez, Commercial and Planning Vice President of Wingo.
More than 140 additional flights due to increased demand The airline has added 144 flights to its offer between the months of December 2023 and January 2024 with a focus on the Colombian domestic market. The majority of these additional flights are located precisely on the national trunk lines, with the Bogotá-Medellín, Bogotá-Santa Marta and Bogotá – Cartagena routes being the most benefited from these increases. It is important to note that these destinations are in the first position in terms of travel demand for the high season at the end of the year, with Medellín, Cartagena, San Andrés and Santa Marta being the most desired domestic destinations in the Wingo network.
When reviewing the international network, the increase in demand for Caribbean destinations such as Punta Cana, Cancún, Santo Domingo and Aruba stands out. The behavior of the Bogotá – Caracas – Bogotá route also stands out, which has registered an increase in its demand flow associated with the December holidays.
