SANTO DOMINGO. Some 248 spas will be closed throughout the Dominican Republic during Holy Week 2024, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) announced this Monday, whose operation is called “Consciousness for Life.”

It has not yet been detailed which centers will be closed, but the COE reported that the measure is to avoid unfortunate events such as drowning during the Major week.

In that sense, the entity that brings together 22 institutions will deploy 49,723 collaborators as reported by President Luis Abinader and General Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the COE, in LA Weekly with the Press.

The operation during Holy Week 2024 will begin on Thursday, March 28 at 2:00 pm and will end on Sunday at 6:00 pm.

In addition, freight vehicles will not be able to circulate from Thursday, March 28, at 6:00 in the morning until Monday, April 1, at 5:00 in the morning. As for the engines, they will only be able to transport the driver and one person. Protective helmets are mandatory, while vans will not be able to carry people in the back.

The traditional taxis will be simultaneous on the Las Américas Highway, the Sánchez Highway and the Duarte Highway, starting at 3:00 in the afternoon. These will come out from Punta CanaBaní and Santiago, respectively.
