PUNTA CANA – The Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) announced Thursday its official sponsorship of the 2025 edition of Quiero Ser Piloto (“I Want to Be a Pilot”), the region’s first aviation-themed educational reality show. As part of its support, the airport is introducing a new distinction: the “Punta Cana Airport: Connecting Your Dreams” special award.

This unique recognition will be granted to the finalist who excels in the contest’s hands-on practical challenges. According to an official press release, the prize includes the installation of a personal flight simulator station at the winner’s home—both as a reward for their performance and as a valuable tool to continue their training.

With this initiative, Punta Cana Airport reaffirms its commitment to nurturing young aviation talent in the Dominican Republic, aiming to expand access to advanced training tools that build critical technical skills for aspiring pilots.

About the Contest

Quiero Ser Piloto made its debut as the first aviation-themed educational reality show in Latin America. The contest combines theoretical knowledge with real-world aviation simulations, offering mentorship and career development opportunities to youth from across the country. Its first season saw participation from over 170 young Dominicans, three of whom have already gone on to become licensed pilots.

The project’s innovative approach has also gained international acclaim. In 2024, Quiero Ser Piloto became the first Latin American initiative to be nominated and recognized at the prestigious Air Traffic Management (ATM) Awards, presented by Airport International Magazine and the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO).

The 2025 edition of the show is expected to draw even greater participation, with rising interest from students and institutions alike. Organizers recently announced that an intermediate level of English is now a prerequisite for applicants—highlighting the contest’s growing emphasis on global standards in aviation training.
