Punta Cana, Dominican Republic — In a landmark step for sustainable travel, W2M-BDX, World2Meet’s inbound operator in the Caribbean, has rolled out a fleet of 25 electric vehicles, becoming the first tourism company in the Dominican Republic to adopt e-mobility at this scale. The initiative accelerates the shift toward cleaner, quieter, and more efficient transportation across top destinations like Bávaro and Punta Cana.

The launch took place at JOIA Bávaro by Iberostar during a regional forum on electric mobility. Among the attendees were Milton Morrison (Executive Director of INTRANT), Gloria Fluxà (Vice Chair and Chief Sustainability Officer at Iberostar Group), Juan Tomás Díaz Infante (President of United Petroleum), and Katia Taneva (Director of W2M in the Dominican Republic), underscoring strong public–private alignment on transport decarbonization.

A Competitive Advantage for a Greener Destination

Marga Ripoll, Caribbean DMC Regional Director at W2M-BDX, emphasized that electrifying transfers and excursions strengthens the Dominican Republic’s competitiveness while safeguarding its natural assets. According to the company, the fleet will:

  • Cut CO₂ emissions substantially over a 60‑month operating horizon
  • Slash NOx, particulate matter, and smog-forming pollutants
  • Reduce noise pollution along high-traffic tourist corridors
  • Enable integration with renewable energy sources, especially solar

These benefits support national climate goals and elevate the visitor experience with smoother, quieter rides and a lower environmental footprint.

Why It Matters for Bávaro–Punta Cana

Tourism in the East relies on reliable ground transport for airport transfers, hotel logistics, and excursions. By transitioning to EVs, W2M-BDX is:

  • Setting a benchmark for sustainable tourism operations
  • Encouraging the build-out of charging infrastructure
  • Creating a blueprint other operators can adopt across the Dominican Republic

Public–Private Momentum

The presence of senior leaders from INTRANT, Iberostar Group, and the energy sector signals growing consensus around e-mobility as a pillar of the destination’s future. From policy and infrastructure to fleet management and clean power, collaboration is accelerating tangible results.

Looking Ahead

W2M-BDX’s investment positions the company—and the Dominican Republic—at the forefront of eco-conscious travel in the Caribbean. As charging networks scale and renewable generation expands, the emissions savings and guest benefits will compound, reinforcing Punta Cana’s reputation as a leading sustainable destination.
