Punta Cana – Puntacana Resort & Club has announced the celebration of its first “Padel Week,” a six-day event that will take place from December 16 to 21 at the Oscar de la Renta Tennis Center. The initiative is organized in partnership with LUX Tennis and will bring to Punta Cana two standout figures from the international padel circuit: Coki Nieto, currently ranked No. 7 in the world, and Alfonso Sánchez, ranked No. 171.
Padel Week is designed as an immersive experience for lovers of this sport, combining high-level training, a competitive tournament, and exclusive social activities. Throughout the week, players will be able to train directly with Nieto and Sánchez in small group sessions, allowing for close-up learning and personalized feedback.
The training schedule has been structured to maximize contact with both professionals. Practice sessions with Alfonso Sánchez will be held on December 16 and 18, while those with Coki Nieto are scheduled for December 17 and 19. Each group will be limited to a maximum of three participants, ensuring an intimate and focused environment on the court, ideal for improving technique, strategy, and game awareness.
The competitive phase of the event will unfold from December 18 to 21, when the official Padel Week tournament takes center stage at the Oscar de la Renta Tennis Center. Matches will bring together local and visiting players in a dynamic, high-energy atmosphere, showcasing the growing passion for padel in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic.
The grand finale of the tournament is set for December 21, with the awards ceremony scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Trophies and recognitions will be presented to the standout players and finalists in each category, celebrating their performance throughout the week.
As a special highlight, once the awards are handed out, spectators will be treated to an exhibition match featuring Coki Nieto and Alfonso Sánchez. The two professionals will face off against the LUX Padel coach and a local player, promising a high-level, entertaining display of padel, with plenty of spectacular points and showmanship for fans.
To close the event with a more personal and social touch, Padel Week will conclude with a Meet & Greet on December 21, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. During this hour, participants and attendees will have the chance to interact with Nieto and Sánchez, ask questions, share experiences, and take photos with the athletes—an ideal opportunity for fans and aspiring players to connect directly with two professionals from the world circuit.
