PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic — The Embassy of Cuba in the Dominican Republic has resumed its Mobile Consulate and Business Forum in Punta Cana, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening relations with the Cuban community living in the country and expanding economic dialogue with local partners.
The initiative was carried out in coordination with the Máximo Gómez Association of Cubans Residing in the Dominican Republic and under the leadership of Cuban Ambassador Ángel Arzuaga Reyes. As part of this effort, the diplomatic delegation traveled to Punta Cana, La Altagracia, in the eastern region of the country.
The program aims to decentralize consular services, making official procedures more accessible to Cuban nationals and reducing the need to travel to the National District to complete documentation and other formalities.
The event also created a space for open and transparent dialogue between Cuban residents and embassy officials, allowing participants to voice concerns, ask questions, and exchange perspectives directly with diplomatic representatives.
Throughout the day, discussions covered consular, migration, and business-related matters, along with an analysis of the current situation in Cuba. Topics included the impact of the extraterritorial economic, commercial, and financial embargo, as well as the continued maximum pressure policies implemented by the United States government.
The Business Forum component facilitated economic and commercial exchange between Dominican and Cuban entrepreneurs, with a focus on export opportunities in the food and agri-food sectors. Presentations also highlighted products from the Cuba Ron Corporation, which were introduced virtually by company executives and officials.
Representatives from the Cuban Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX) took part in the meeting, presenting an updated portfolio of business opportunities and outlining measures designed to encourage and streamline foreign investment in Cuba.
In addition, attendees were informed about congresses, trade events, and cultural festivals scheduled for the first half of the year in Havana and Santiago de Cuba, located in the eastern part of the island.
Among those present were Dimas Lima, economic and commercial advisor; Damila Hechavarría, consul; other members of the diplomatic mission; and Arles Osmel Delisle, vice president of the Máximo Gómez Association of Cuban Residents and its representative in La Altagracia.
The Cuban Embassy also announced that the next Mobile Consulate is scheduled to take place in February in the province of Barahona, in the southwestern Dominican Republic, as part of its ongoing outreach program.
