PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic — Dominican carrier Sky High Dominicana is expanding its operations to Punta Cana for the summer travel season, projecting the transportation of approximately 18,000 passengers on its Miami–Punta Cana route as demand for travel to the Dominican Republic continues to rise.

The airline announced that it will operate more than 350 flights throughout the summer period, reinforcing one of its busiest international routes and strengthening air connectivity between South Florida and the country’s leading tourism destination.

The expanded schedule is intended to accommodate increased passenger demand during the peak travel season while supporting the continued growth of tourism in Punta Cana, which remains the Dominican Republic’s primary gateway for international visitors.

Cesarina Beauchamps, Executive Vice President of Sky High Dominicana, said the airline views every additional flight as an opportunity to contribute to the country’s tourism industry and broader economy.

“Air connectivity is a fundamental driver of tourism development and the economic growth of our destinations,” Beauchamps said, highlighting the strategic importance of expanding international routes.

The Miami–Punta Cana connection has become one of the Dominican Republic’s most significant air corridors, linking one of the country’s largest source markets with its premier tourist destination. In addition to serving American vacationers, the route provides essential connectivity for Dominicans living in Florida, business travelers, and visitors maintaining commercial and family ties between the two locations.

Punta Cana continues to account for a substantial share of the nation’s international air traffic, supported by its extensive hotel infrastructure, world-renowned beaches, championship golf courses, expanding residential developments, and ongoing public and private investment in tourism infrastructure.

Industry analysts note that increased flight capacity has a direct impact beyond the aviation sector, generating higher hotel occupancy rates and increased demand for restaurants, transportation services, excursions, retail businesses, and other tourism-related industries that depend on international arrivals.

As the Dominican Republic continues to register record tourism growth, airlines are strengthening their networks to meet rising demand, particularly during high-travel periods such as the summer season.

Founded in 2012, Sky High Dominicana has steadily expanded its network across the Caribbean and the Americas, operating scheduled international services from the Dominican Republic while continuing to strengthen its position as one of the country’s leading locally owned airlines.
