Hazoury Honored for Shaping Punta Cana Tourism and Real Estate
Fernando Hazoury will receive the 2026 “Empresario del Año” award at the National Tourism Awards, recognizing his role in advancing Punta Cana tourism and real estate through Cap Cana. According to PuntaCanaPost, he leads a destination overseeing more than 16,500 rooms across operational, under-construction, and planned developments.

As chairman of Cap Cana’s Board of Directors, Hazoury has guided the project since its inception over 20 years ago, focusing on integrated tourism and real estate planning. As of January 2026, the destination had 9,000 rooms in operation and 7,500 under development. He has consistently advocated for sustainable growth, emphasizing the need for clear regulations and long-term planning.
Cap Cana has attracted over $3 billion in cumulative investments as of 2022, with an estimated 700,000 annual visitors. Hazoury reiterated in 2026 that sustainability remains a priority, particularly as the eastern region faces new development pressures.
Recent infrastructure upgrades continue to support Cap Cana’s evolution as a key driver of tourism and investment in Punta Cana.
