Punta Cana Airport Handles 49% of Dominican Republic Flights

Punta Cana airport flight share reached 49% of all international flight arrivals in the Dominican Republic during August, according to data from PuntaCanaPost. This surpasses Las Américas International Airport (29%) and Cibao International Airport (14%).

The U.S. remains the largest tourism market, contributing 44% of total tourist arrivals. Canada followed with 9%, Colombia with 8%, Argentina with 5%, and Spain and the United Kingdom each with 4%.

In terms of flight origins, the U.S. led with 48%, followed by Panama and Colombia at 7% each. Puerto Rico and Canada accounted for 6% each.

This data highlights Punta Cana’s growing role as a key entry point for international visitors, particularly from North America and Latin America. The airport’s dominance reflects broader trends in the country’s tourism sector, which has seen sustained growth in recent years.
