PUERTO PLATA, Dominican Republic — Frontier Airlines officially inaugurated its new route connecting Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, with San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Thursday, marking a strategic move to enhance air connectivity between the neighboring Caribbean islands. The launch of this route is expected to stimulate tourism, bolster commercial ties, and offer travelers a cost-effective option for regional travel.
The new service will initially operate two weekly direct flights between Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan. The initiative represents a notable step in deepening the relationship between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, both culturally and economically.

Frontier’s low-cost model is seen as a key enabler of greater mobility, especially for those traveling between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico for tourism, family visits, and business.
