New York, USA- President Luis Abinader inaugurated a Representative Office of the Reserve Bankthe second that begins its operations abroad to meet the financial services needs of the Dominican diaspora.
The new facilities operate at Amsterdam Avenue corner 181, in Washington Heights, where a large community of Dominicans resides; and it joins the one opened in January in Madrid, while a third will soon be inaugurated in Miami, as part of Banreservas’ internationalization plan.
After the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony of the office installed on the first floor, the head of state moved to an adjacent building, where he was accompanied by the first lady Raquel Arbaje; the general administrator of Banreservas, Samuel Pereyra; his wife Noelia García de Pereyra, the Dominican ambassador in Washington, Sonia Guzmán; the consul in New York, Eligio Jáquez; members of the Board of Directors, Bank executives, businessmen, merchants, and other representatives of the Dominican community in the city.
A great opportunity
The general administrator of the banking entity maintained that this office represents a great opportunity, after which he highlighted that New York is home to the largest and most prestigious banks in the world, which have more global reach and greater financial capital. Public service hours at these facilities will be Monday through Friday, from 9:00 in the morning to 3:00 in the afternoon.
Pereyra added that there are also the largest brokerage houses, which daily move billions of dollars in investments from multinational companies that impact tens of millions of people around the world; In addition, the state of New York is the third largest economy in the United States.
He explained that achieving approval of the permits required by the United States Federal Reserve required a great effort from the financial institution, which was possible thanks to the great vision of the Board of Directors and the executives of the business areas of the Bank.

“This dream could never have come true without the unconditional support of President Luis Abinader, who, from the first day when he learned about this project, was excited about us and encouraged us to move forward until we achieved what we have achieved today,” he stressed.
Observing that in New York City millions of people from different countries and cultures meet and interact every day, he said that Banreservas is one of the largest banks in the Caribbean and one of the most profitable in the area, in addition to being a bank that represents the values of Dominicans.
“The fact of opening this office is of great significance due to the importance this has for our people, who total close to a million Dominicans who reside in this city,” he said.
He said that Banreservas is the largest bank in the country, in addition to having “not only solid and reliable financial capital, but also reputational capital that transcends borders, making this institution a reference for Dominicans in the world,” .
“The Reserve Bank is a heritage of Dominican identity that, from now on, is in direct and constant contact with Dominican residents in New York, one of the largest in the city,” he emphasized.
The opening of the new Banreservas Representative Office was eagerly awaited by Dominicans residing here and in other American cities, who have expressed it in different scenarios.
