Black Friday Card Spending Saw a 23.6% Increase from 2022

Santo Domingo, RD.- The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) reported that during the Black Friday weekend, card consumption was made for an amount of RD$11,727.7 million, for an increase of RD$2,238.8 million, 23.6% compared to the value of the transactions recorded in the same period of 2022.

These transactions correspond to operations carried out in commercial establishments in the country, both in person and through electronic commerce.

This amount of transactions carried out on the aforementioned days, through credit, debit and prepaid cards, are indicative of greater private consumption and the increase in commercial activity in the country.

It is important to highlight that, thanks to the legal, operational and technological initiatives promoted by the Central Bank and the Monetary Board, together with the private sector, the country has a modern, safe and efficient payment system, characterized by a diversity of products. and payment services, as well as a variety of banking and non-banking payment service providers, which allow immediacy in payment transactions, within an increasingly digitalized environment.
