The ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Brazil, Patricia Villegas de Jorge, signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Tourism of the DR (Mitur) and the Federal Republic of Brazil.
The document aims to promote cooperation in tourism between both countries, through the exchange of information and promotion of tourism investments.
It is expected that the action will increase the flow of tourists between Brazil and the Dominican Republic, encouraging cultural exchange and harmonized positioning in international forums, according to a press release.
During the visit to Sao PauloBrazil, the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, David Collado, signed the agreement with his Brazilian counterpart, Celso Sabino de Oliveira, expressing commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with the southern giant.
Ambassador Patricia Villegas de Jorge expressed recognition and gratitude to the Brazilian authorities on behalf of the president, Luis Abinader, highlighting the historic event beginning between the two countries, according to El Nuevo Diario.
“Our government has a broad vision of tourism, and with Minister Celso Sabino, who shares this vision, I believe that the alliance will be very productive for both nations,” he stated.
According to the Tourism Data Panel, in 2023, Brazil received 8,665 tourists from the Dominican Republic, while more than 18,000 Brazilian tourists visited the Caribbean country, especially in Punta Cana, famous for its beaches.
