He Puntacana Group and the company Eurelius signed an agreement to implement a solar energy generation project. The project will generate more than 50% of the energy consumed in the community of Punta Cana, contributing to a more sustainable destination.
This project will avoid the emission of more than 25 thousand tons of CO2 per year and will reduce energy costs. Over 30 MWp of solar production and over 50 MWh of battery storage will be installed. Punta Cana will generate over 50% of its energy renewably.
By signing the agreement, Frank Elias Rainieri, CEO of Grupo Puntacana, stated, “this confirms Grupo Puntacana’s commitment to caring for the environment and the community.” The installation of solar panels at the Punta Cana International Airport and the Puntacana International School are part of this environmental initiative.
Now, with this new project, there is a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The businessman explained that the project includes the installation of photovoltaic panels and an energy storage system for stability during weather changes.
Michael Bellmer, managing partner of Eurelius, expressed his delight in supporting the Puntacana Group. The project will be the largest clean energy project in the private industrial and commercial sector in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean.
The agreement specifies that the photovoltaic plant will be at the Punta Cana International Airport. It will have space for future expansion.
