Iberia Group to Launch New Route Connecting Latin America and Slovenia in Summer 2024

Madrid.- Iberia Group A new destination will debut next summer, Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, thus creating a new ‘bridge’ that increases the connectivity options of Latin American customers in Europe, where they already have connections to more than 100 destinations. In 2021, Iberia launched a survey on its social media profiles for its followers to choose which destination they wanted Grupo Iberia to fly to that summer, and their choice was, precisely, Ljubljana.

A destination with inexhaustible plans

Ljubljana is more than 2000 years old. Its history and its proximity to the Julian Alps distinguish it from the rest of the capitals of the former Yugoslavia. In addition, it is a small city that makes it easy to plan on foot.

From the Ljubljana Castle, an essential visit, to its numerous museums, the opera, the Triple Bridge or the Congress Square, the city offers several alternatives for an unforgettable trip. Its streets are full of charm and combine tradition, art and antiquity with more modern and current enclaves, such as the Neboticnik skyscrapers, capable of surprising any traveler.

Just 60 kilometers away is one of the obligatory stops in Slovenia: Lake Bled. Its impressive blue waters surround an island, the only natural one in the country, on which stands Sexton House, a 15th-century chapel that can only be accessed by climbing 99 steps. In addition to the sanctuary, the Church of Mary and the Provost’s House complete this spectacular landscape.

Cagliari and Palermo, new destinations operated by Iberia

This summer Iberia will also offer direct flights to two additional destinations in Italy: Cagliari and Palermo. In this way, this summer more than 4,400 places will be offered to each of these new Italian destinations.

Flights to Cagliari will begin on July 29 and Palermo a day later, both with up to three weekly frequencies. They are already on sale on iberia.com from 58 and 61 euros respectively per trip buying round trip from Spain.

Iberia will thus offer direct flights this summer to 12 Italian destinations: Rome, Milan, Venice, Florence, Bologna, Naples, Turin, Bari, Catania, Olbia, Cagliari and Palermo.

Direct flights to Tirana

Starting next April, Iberia will add another new destination to its list: Tirana. On March 28, the airline will begin operating three weekly flights from Madrid to Tirana’s Madre Teresa International Airport.

The capital of Albania will have three direct connections a week from the Madrid-Barajas airport, every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. This route will be operated with A320neo aircraft, with capacity for 186 passengers. Thus, during the summer season of 2024, a total of 32,364 places will be offered between Spain and the Balkan country.

Flights are on sale at iberia.com and travel agencies from 79 euros final price per trip buying a round trip, departing from Madrid.

Likewise, Iberia is consolidating several of the routes that it operated only in the months of July and August, and starting next summer season they will operate continuously from April to the end of October. This is the case of Split and Zagreb (Croatia), Catania (Italy) and Ponta Delgada (Portugal).

Operations will also be expanded to other destinations to which Iberia flies in the summer season: the Greek islands and the island of Sardinia. The airline will schedule flights to Corfu, Mykonos and Santorini (Greece), and Olbia (Sardinia, Italy) from May to September. In addition, Iberia will fly to Bergen (Norway) from May to early September.
