Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader inaugurated the Unified Technical Training Network at the National Institute of Technical and Professional Training (INFOTEP), positioning the institution as a regional leader in technology within Central America and the Caribbean.
The newly launched platform features a state-of-the-art Data Center, a Unified Management and Monitoring Center, and a Closed Circuit Television and Network Operations Center. This advanced infrastructure aims to elevate INFOTEP's training services, adopting cutting-edge technology to meet modern demands.
During the event, President Abinader praised the transformation of INFOTEP, highlighting its important role in the advancement of technical education. “I always refer to INFOTEP as one of the success stories of this government. From eight facilities in 2020, we have gone to 54,” he stated.
Luis Miguel De Camps, Minister of Labor and President of the Board of Directors of INFOTEP, emphasized that the Unified Network provides students with essential tools for the changing labor market, combining experience and knowledge to improve employability and competitiveness.
The general director of INFOTEP, Rafael Santos Badía, explained that the network improves the monitoring of educational quality, strengthens the virtual platform and improves connectivity and cybersecurity in its main and regional offices. He noted that this initiative provides a clear view of academic performance, crucial for data-driven decision making.
Highlighting the improvements in security, Santos Badía assured that intelligent systems safeguard the institution's connected infrastructure against external threats.
Edgar Batista, Vice Minister of Digital Agenda, highlighted the importance of technology to drive national progress, address challenges in security, transportation and education, and prepare for a digital future.
Prominent figures also participated in the ceremony, including the Ministers of Trade and Industry, Education and key business and media leaders.
INFOTEP's introduction of high-tech simulators in Haina and Santana, valued at more than 88 million pesos, further exemplifies its commitment to improving scientific knowledge in fields such as logistics, construction and heavy machinery.
This technological advancement marks a fundamental change in technical education in the Dominican Republic, aligning with global digital trends and reinforcing INFOTEP's dedication to human capital development.
