SD sees influx of returning visitors after Easter vacation

SANTO DOMINGO. Thousands of vacationers returned to Santo Domingo on Sunday afternoon after the Easter holiday, taking advantage of the opportunity to visit their towns and tourist places in the Dominican Republic.

Yesterday, Sunday, the traffic authorities carried out their usual taxes to avoid accidents during the mass return. Three postages were made in total: from Punta Cana a holy Sunday, from Santiago, and from Baní.

As always, the Eastern region was the one that registered the most visitors because the main tourist centers of the country are concentrated in that area, such as Punta Cana, a destination that, for this date, is usually at maximum occupancy.

Similarly, the Sánchez highway, which leads to the southern region, showed another collapse of traffic every year in a row. This was recorded in the section between Azua and BanYo. Vehicles returning to Santo Domingo occupied all directions, preventing the flow of vehicles to the deep south.

In addition, another area that had a lot of exodus of people was the Norddonde highway or highway of Samana. Thousands returned from that destination yesterday, Sunday.

Likewise, for several years, the tourist municipality of Las Terrenas has been affected by the number of people who travel during Holy Week, which causes unrest among local and foreign tourists who live there.

Negative point

The negative point of the massive displacement during Holy Week are the unfortunate events. As of yesterday, Sunday, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) had recorded 20 deaths, most of them due to traffic accidents in different parts of the country.
