According to the president of the Eastern Hotel Association (Asoleste), Ernesto Veloz, some 43,600 hotel rooms are currently in operation and in inventory, and about 3,000 are under construction.
He said those under construction are expected to be completed by the end of 2023 or beginning of 2024.
Veloz also reported that 4,200 rooms are in the pipeline in projects that will begin in 2024. “We hope to end this 2023 with 50 thousand hotel rooms,” said the president of Asoleste when interviewed.
Veloz expressed that the approval of the pre-check would be an “extraordinary boom,” because the country would have 60 United States airports serving Punta Cana.
The tourism business leader is confident that this initiative will be approved, which will directly benefit the country, but also the faster mobility of North American tourists.
