PUNTA CANA – The Dominican Republic is poised to make history this July, with tourism officials projecting that the country will welcome more than 800,000 international visitors—a figure that would mark the most successful July on record for the nation’s thriving tourism sector.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, this milestone is a testament to the Dominican Republic’s continued appeal as a premier Caribbean destination, supported by robust air connectivity, improved infrastructure, and a strong public-private collaboration to enhance the visitor experience.

Punta Cana, the crown jewel of Dominican tourism, remains a key driver of these record numbers. Known for its pristine beaches, luxury resorts, and vibrant culture, the resort town continues to attract travelers from North America, Europe, and Latin America. Officials report that Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is handling the majority of arrivals, cementing its role as a central gateway to the country.

“This is not just a record; it is a reflection of the confidence international travelers have in the Dominican Republic,” said Tourism Minister David Collado. “We’ve worked tirelessly to position the country as a safe, attractive, and dynamic destination for all types of tourists.”

The expected figures for July also signal a strong summer season overall, following a steady rise in visitor arrivals throughout the year. The tourism sector, which contributes nearly 16% to the Dominican GDP, has been central to the country’s post-pandemic economic recovery.

With high hotel occupancy rates, expanded flight routes, and ongoing promotional campaigns, tourism authorities anticipate continued growth in the months ahead. As the Dominican Republic builds on this momentum, industry leaders are optimistic that 2025 may also set new annual records.
