Verón, Punta Cana — The Municipal District Council of Verón–Punta Cana has ramped up ongoing clean-up and maintenance operations for storm drains across multiple sectors of the district, both ahead of and during the recent rainy days.
Led by the Department of Beautification and Sanitation, these preventive actions aim to keep rainwater flowing efficiently and reduce water accumulation that can trigger flooding in vulnerable areas.
Municipal crews are working continuously to remove sediment, debris, and solid waste from catch basins and drainage channels. Teams are also inspecting critical points to apply targeted technical solutions that reinforce the district’s stormwater system and improve overall resilience.
Key measures underway:
- Routine clearing of imbornales and grates to ensure unobstructed drainage
- Sediment and trash removal to prevent blockages during heavy downpours
- Monitoring of flood-prone zones and rapid-response maintenance
- Technical upgrades where needed to enhance drainage capacity
Residents are encouraged to avoid dumping waste in public spaces and to report clogged drains or risk areas to municipal channels to help maintain effective water flow during rainy conditions.
