Staff at the Hospital General de Verón Punta Cana carried out an orderly evacuation Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. as part of the National Earthquake Evacuation Drill coordinated by the Centro de Operaciones de Emergencias (COE).
According to Bávaro Digital, hospital workers moved to designated safe zones during the exercise, putting the facility’s established emergency protocols to the test.
The drill aimed to assess personnel response capacity, reinforce evacuation procedures and build a stronger culture of prevention in the event of an actual seismic emergency.
The COE periodically organizes these nationwide simulations to prepare institutions and communities across the Dominican Republic for potential disasters.
