Uridy Marte, president of the municipal council, confirmed that external legal counsel has been contracted to reinforce the municipality’s position. This follows the provisional suspension of Resolution 360 by the Second Land Court of La Altagracia, which paused enforcement of the ruling while reviewing a reconsideration appeal filed by the cooperative.
Marte emphasized that the suspension is temporary and does not halt the broader legal process. “The process has not ended. These lands belong to the people,” he stated, underscoring the administration’s commitment to protecting public assets. The council has also secured unanimous approval from its members to enhance legal strategies through specialized representation.
