Punta Cana Hotel Job Growth to Reach 54,414 by 2030

Of the projected jobs, 36,124 are expected to be held by men (66%) and 18,290 by women (34%). The largest share of these jobs will be in kitchens (15,780 jobs), followed by restaurants and bars (10,882), housekeeping (8,708), and maintenance (5,441).

Other key areas include front desk operations (3,809 jobs), security (3,265), and roles in administration, human resources, sales, event spaces, and entertainment. This breakdown reflects the diverse staffing needs of a growing hospitality industry.

Approximately 85% of these workers — or 46,252 people — will need to live outside hotel compounds, according to the plan. Municipalities such as Higüey, Verón, La Otra Banda, Laguna de Nisibón, and San Rafael del Yuma are expected to absorb much of this workforce.

This trend signals a broader challenge: job growth must be matched with expanded housing, transportation, education, and healthcare infrastructure. The Strategic Plan La Altagracia 2030 highlights the need for coordinated urban planning to support communities hosting an increasing number of hospitality workers.

As Punta Cana’s tourism-driven economy expands, the pressure to build resilient local infrastructure is growing. The question remains whether Verón, Higüey, and surrounding areas are prepared to accommodate the surge in population and employment demand. Recent job fairs have already shown strong local interest in hospitality careers.
