Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. – As part of the National Housing Plan “Familia Feliz”, the Ministry of Women granted 36 Bono Mujer subsidies to female beneficiaries living in the residential community Hato Nuevo IV, located in Manoguayabo, Santo Domingo Oeste.
The ceremony was led by Vice President Raquel Peña, Minister of Women Mayra Jiménez, and Vice Minister of Construction of the Ministry of Housing and Buildings, Danny Santos.
During her speech, Vice President Peña applauded the efforts of Minister Jiménez, emphasizing that these economic contributions are vital for many Dominican women who dream of owning their first home. She highlighted that, without such financial support, thousands of families would find it difficult to improve their quality of life.
The Bono Mujer covers between 8% and 12% of the apartment cost, significantly lowering monthly payments and allowing women to provide safe, dignified housing for their children.
In total, the Hato Nuevo IV housing project delivered 608 new homes. The official event was also attended by Governor of Santo Domingo Lucrecia Santana Leyba, Deputy Minister of Social Development Alexis Jiménez, Deputy Minister of Entrepreneurship Scarlet Benzan, and National Housing Fund (Fonvivienda) Director John Anderson.
Other attendees included Congresswoman Leyvi Bautista, Santo Domingo Oeste Mayor Francisco Peña, Vice President of Constructora Bisonó Juan Antonio Bisonó, and Banreservas Executive President Leonardo Aguilera.
The Bono Mujer program, managed by the Ministry of Women, is specifically aimed at supporting single mothers, survivors of gender violence, women with disabilities, low-income households, caregivers of elderly family members, orphaned children of femicide victims, and Dominican women living abroad. Its mission is to ensure access to safe, affordable housing for vulnerable sectors of society.
With these 36 bonds, the Dominican government reinforces its commitment to reducing the housing deficit and promoting inclusion and equity within its social programs.
