Punta Cana, Dominican Republic – Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) has officially begun a comprehensive renovation and expansion of its Terminal B parking area, a project that will span approximately one year and aims to enhance passenger flow and transportation services.

To ensure smooth navigation during the construction period, PUJ is implementing updated road signage across the airport complex. These new signs will help guide travelers, drivers, and airport personnel efficiently through the adjusted traffic routes.

Temporary Traffic and Access Modifications

As part of the upgrade, the airport is making key adjustments to access roads and transportation hubs. These changes will affect areas typically used by taxis, tour operators, and shuttle services. To maintain service continuity, temporary bus and tour operator waiting zones will be established behind the Four Points by Sheraton Puntacana Village and directly in front of ILUMEL.

Despite the ongoing work, the current entry and exit points of Terminal B’s parking lot will remain operational and will continue serving as designated passenger pickup zones.

In addition, a new short-term parking zone will be introduced near the Specialized Civil Aviation Security Corps (CESAC) building. This area will be specifically for authorized light vehicles, providing quick and convenient access for short-duration stops.

Commitment to Safety and Passenger Experience

The renovation is part of PUJ’s broader mission to modernize its infrastructure and elevate the overall passenger experience. Airport authorities emphasize that all construction activities will be carried out with safety, convenience, and efficiency as top priorities.

Travelers are encouraged to allow extra time for arrivals and departures during this transition phase and to pay close attention to the updated signage and traffic guidance.
