PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic — Residents and visitors in Punta Cana can expect another hot and predominantly stable day this Monday, as a high-pressure system continues to dominate weather conditions across the eastern Dominican Republic, according to the latest forecast from the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET).

Meteorologists report that the presence of a weak concentration of Saharan dust over the region will contribute to hazy skies and limited rainfall throughout La Altagracia Province. While weather conditions are expected to remain generally dry, partly to mostly cloudy skies will prevail during the day, with isolated showers possible during the afternoon as a result of localized atmospheric effects.

Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach approximately 32°C (90°F), while elevated humidity and warm east-southeasterly winds will produce a heat index that may feel significantly higher than the actual temperature, creating uncomfortable conditions during the hottest hours of the day.

INDOMET is advising the public to take preventive measures to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses. Residents and tourists are encouraged to stay well hydrated, wear lightweight and light-colored clothing, apply sunscreen, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., when ultraviolet radiation is expected to be at its strongest.

Health officials also recommend that individuals with respiratory conditions exercise additional caution, as airborne Saharan dust particles may affect air quality and aggravate respiratory sensitivities.

Although isolated afternoon showers may develop in some areas, forecasters indicate that no significant rainfall or severe weather is expected, allowing outdoor activities and tourism operations across Punta Cana to continue under generally favorable weather conditions.
